Publishing your book is a cooperative effort between you and Simply Pets Books Innovative, a subsidy publisher giving authors the opportunity to have their books published professionally and timely. Unlike traditional publishing, you have input into various aspects of publishing, such as being able to approve the cover and working with the editor to ensure that your writer’s voice is not changed. Unlike self-publishing, you don’t have to understand every step of the publishing process. We will handle the complicated process, and when we finish, you will hold in your hand a high-quality book that will make you proud and capture the attention of petlovers.

Although you have some choices and more control over the process with Simply Pets Books Innovative, we require that every book go through the same stringent process as books in our Traditional imprint. You cannot choose to forego editing or use your child’s drawing on the cover (unless your child is a prodigy and the work meets our standards). Our goal is not to sell you a package of services but to produce a high-quality book that consumers will buy.

Since each project is unique, we do not have publishing packages offering you certain services for a bundled price. The amount of editing required, the length of the book, and the choice of cover art and interior formatting all have a big impact on the cost. Illustrations or photos in the book and the use of interior color increase the price. We ask you for information in order to give you a quote.

We do a sample edit on a few pages of your work to determine how much work will be required, then we give you a detailed proposal itemizing each service and its cost. Sometimes we may give you a quote based on the sample but tell you that if you go through the manuscript again looking for specific errors we’ve marked repeatedly, we will do another sample and quote a lower price if there is less work for us to do. We want to help you become a better writer if that is your desire.

We will recommend the formats best for your book and explain any additional costs for additional formats, but you choose which ones to publish.

You may purchase books at a discount, sell them anywhere you choose, online or offline, and keep the profit. We will also sell your title through our website, shopping network, and distribution channels. Typical royalty rates for books sold by Simply Pets Innovative are 40% for trade paperback and hardcover and 50% for ebooks and audiobooks.
